The Shield started the season of with a high note in exhibition play as they swept a short two game series with the Elliot Lake Bobcats. The weekend started of on Friday night with a closely contested 7-5 win. Leading the way for the Shield was veteran Dylan Sontag with a goal and 3 assists. Also scoring for the Shield were Rickey Greenslade with a hat-trick, Sly Spencer, Tim Wender and Derek Rodgers.

The Saturday afternoon game was also a close game as it took a shootout to break a 3-3 tie after the Bobcats tied it up late in the third on a powerplay. In the end the Shield came out on top with a 4-3 victory. Shield goal scorers were Jesse Goheen, Morgan Didsbury, and Dylan Sontag with a one-handed beauty. Chris Vandertas and Dylan Sontag scored in the shootout to seal the victory for the Shield.

This friday, September 5th, the Shield open up regular season play at home versus the Nipissing Alouettes at 7:30 PM with warm-up starting at 7:00 PM. We all hope to see you at the arena this weekend. GO SHIELD GO!
