Bradford wins 2nd straight title
April 3, 2008

The Bradford Rattlers pulled out a 5-3 victory over the Innisfil Lakers in game 4 of the final series in the GMHL playoffs on wednesday night on route to their second straight Bob Russell Cup victory. The final round sweep of the Lakers may have came as a surprise to some as the Lakers finished the season hot and were one of the 4 teams to beat the Rattlers in the regular season.

This means that with the 2007-08 GMHL playoffs now in the books, the Shield were the only team to defeat the Rattlers in post-season play with their 5-2 victory in game 4 of their quarter-final series. The Shield also gave them a good run in game 1 of the series losing 5-4 in overtime. Seeing that the Shield were the only team not to get swept by the Rattlers is a testament to the effort put forth by the Shield players. With a couple motre bounces going our way who knows what could have been.

Nevertheless, the South Muskoka Shield organization would like to congratulate the Bradford Rattlers on their second straight playoff title and good luck in the Alliance Cup.
